A rule for missional communities
Growing up in a Southern Baptist church, I remember that about once a year the entire congregation would read together our "Church Covenant." Theoretically, the items in the church covenant were the things we agreed to do as members of Dalewood Baptist Church. Here’s an example of a church covenant very similar to ours. This "covenant" was a Baptist version of a communal rule, which has origins in the granddaddy of them all, The Rule of St. Benedict.
