Welcome to Amicus Dei

Hi, and welcome to Amicus Dei, Latin for friend of God.  I’ve been thinking about this idea for some time now.  I’m fascinated by the original friends of God, medieval mystics who sought an authentic relationship with God during a time of great turmoil within the organized church.  Their quest gave rise to Thomas Aquinas, and a renewed piety.  Out of that movement eventually came the radical reformation the Waldensians, Moravians, Anabaptists and others who believed that our pursuit of God is both personal and communal.  Now 700 years later, many are on a new quest to find friendship with God.  Coincidentally the church is also in transition.
